UK Lifts Police Registration Scheme for Internationals

Authorities in the United Kingdom have announced that they lifted the police registration requirement for internationals traveling to the country for long-term purposes.

Such a decision has been confirmed through a statement published by the United Kingdom’s government, while the same noted that it would no longer require internationals to register under the Police Registration Scheme, VisaGuide.World  reports.

Thus, internationals who plan to enter the UK for long-term purposes will not be required to hold a report to the local police in order to register their residential address.

“The government of the UK removed requirements for foreign nationals to register their address with local police officials. According to the government announcement, removing this step will reduce the UK immigration process redundancies. However, foreign nationals will still be required to register their address as part of the biometric stage of applying for a residence permit,” the statement published by Immigration Partners read.

Regarding the issue, the UK’s government said that the abolishment of such a requirement would reduce the UK immigration process redundancies. However, it has been confirmed that internationals reaching Britain will still be obliged to register their address as part of the biometric stage of applying for a residence permit.

According to the announcement of the UK’s government, the changes include:

  • Persons who receive the public notice are not required to register with the police from the date of its receipt, including people who are waiting for an appointment
  • Immigration permission will be given without the police registration requirement imposed
  • Persons who present at a police registration office will be urged they are not required to register
  • Persons who have already traveled or are currently in Britain will not have their visa/BRP updated to reflect with the removal requirement

Earlier this month, authorities in the United Kingdom announced that they lifted the majority of the restrictions imposed due to the Coronavirus. However, soon after announcing such a decision, the government stressed that it decided to increase tourist visas by ÂŁ5.

Previously, all persons applying for a UK short visit visa were obliged to pay a fee of £95.

The UK is continuously receiving a large number of migrants from other countries. It was reported that over 28,000 migrants, as well as asylum seekers, crossed from Europe to the United Kingdom through the English Channel last year. Such figures show that there has been a threefold increase compared to the figures for 2020.
