Nigeria Introduces New Visa Policy 

Nigeria has introduced a new Visa Policy for 2020, in a bid to contribute to the economy of the country and the national security.

The new Nigerian Visa Policy that came to force on February 4, 2020, expands the current classes of visas into 79, by specifying them in three main categories, VisaGuide.World reports.

In the first category are included the short visit visas (28 classes), that allow all the foreigners to visit Nigeria for up to 3 months, with tourism and business meetings as the main reasons for application.

The second category belongs to temporary residence visas (36 classes), for which can apply all eligible individuals to reside in Nigeria, under purposes like employment, accompanying employed migrants and schooling.

The third category is specified for residence visas (15 classes). Nigerians by birth who have renounced their Nigerian citizenship, and their spouses, investors who import an annual minimum threshold of capital, highly skilled individuals and some classes of retirees are eligible to apply for this visa.

The Visa Policy of Nigeria, for 2020, also facilitates the applying process for visas by categorizing channels for application.

The Visa on Arrival (VoA), is created for foreign citizens who are business travellers, tourists, emergency relief workers, etc. 

Second category is made for Nigerians by birth; and holders of passports of African Union (AU) countries, while the third category, also known as electronic visa (e-Visa), stands for the online process in which all the visitors can apply online, through the NIS’s website and obtain a preapproval before coming to the country.

In each visa category that you choose to apply the applications will be processed at the Nigerian Mission or Visa Application Centers that are authorized.

All the citizens that choose the electronic visa method, their applications can be filled on the NIS website, through which the payment can also be made online. After this process, the documents will be submitted at the Nigerian Mission and if approved, the visa will be granted to the applicant.
