About JAMVAT
The term JAMVAT stands for Jamaica Values and Attitudes. The Jamvat Jamaican Scholarship Program assists students who have been accepted into a recognized institution in Jamaica but are unable to afford tuition costs owing to a lack of funds. These students, however, are not only offered a scholarship, but also the chance to give back to the state by completing 200 hours of community service.
The JAMVAT program has two goals: students participate in community service, increasing their civic consciousness, and the government covers 30% of the student’s tuition costs, which must not exceed $350,000 per year. To be eligible for the 30% tuition award, JAMVAT members must perform 200 or more volunteer hours before or at the end of the program.
