A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF MANAGEMENT PRACTICES OF FOREIGN AND INDIGENOUS FIRMS IN NIGERIA

Abstract

The low productivity of the industry in Nigeria has been linked to structural and systemic factors, which refers to the nature of the environment of the industry and the application of foreign systems, which are not conducive to the indigenous case. However, the productivity level of the industry depends on the workers productivity, an improvement of which will enhance the overall productivity of the industry. Workers output, is affected by the management of the industry. Her systems, actions and policies contribute to the structural variables that undermine workers productivity. This project therefore seeks to undertake a scientific investigation into the actions, practices, policies and strategies in the industry with a view to determining through questionnaires, research methodologies and certain findings, their effects on productivity in the Nigerian Construction Industry. It also suggests ways based on researches made, where positive management practices, actions, policies and strategies could be channeled to improving productivity in the industry.
