|EFFECT OF STRENGTH BASED TRAINING ON BULLYING AMONG PUPILS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENT IN ENUGU STATE.
| The aim of the study is to determine the impact of training pupils with hearing impairment (PHI) who exhibit bullying behaviour using Strength Based Training (SBT) in reducing their bullying problems. The study was carried out in two special schools for the deaf in Enugu state. Three research questions and three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The design of the study was quasi-experimental, which adopts a non- randomized control-group pretest and post-test design.
The population of the study was 16 PHI who exhibit bullying behaviour in the two schools for pupils with hearing impairment in Enugu state. Three research assistants were used to carry out this study. There was no sampling since the population size is small and manageable. Research instrument used for this study was Manifest of Bullying Behaviours Questionnaire (MBBQ).
A training package titled ‘‘Training on Strength Based (SBT)’’ was developed to train the PHI who exhibit bullying behaviours on the areas of strength identified in them. Mean, standard deviation and partial eta squared were used in answering research questions. Analysis of covariance was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study revealed that SBT is a powerful intervention strategy in managing bullying behaviours among PHI.
